The city of La Paz was founded in 1548 by the spanish conquistadors. Spain controlled la Paz for many years. Many groups of people tried to revolt against the Spanish. In !825 the republicans finally had a victory over the spanish. They changed the name of the city from Nuestra senora de La Paz to La Paz de Ayacucho.
